    Who We Are

    WNY Fundraiser Events

    WNY Fundraiser is a centralized platform that connects the Western New York community with local fundraising events of every shape and size — from grassroots charity raffles to major galas. We make it easy for anyone to discover, support, or promote events that strengthen the bonds of our region and uplift the causes that matter most.

    Why We Started

    It all started with a simple goal: to gather a few friends for a local charity golf scramble.

    Like many in our community, we relied on word of mouth — but it quickly became clear there was no reliable way to find these kinds of events. We searched social media, group chats, and local bulletin boards. Still, so many fundraisers were buried or completely missed.

    That’s when we realized this wasn’t just our problem.
    WNY is full of passionate people organizing meaningful fundraisers — pasta dinners, bake sales, car washes, auctions — all driven by love for a cause or community. But without a shared space to bring them together, too many efforts were going unseen and under-supported.

    So we created WNY Fundraiser: a free, easy-to-use online hub where anyone can find or share a local charitable event. A platform built not just to organize a single golf scramble — but to transform how the entire region comes together to give back.

    Meet the Team

    A proud WNY resident with a passion for community and competition, he is an avid Buffalo Bills fan and Sabres season ticket holder. Off the field, you’ll find him working on his golf swing, rolling strikes at the bowling alley and hanging with Neko & Nora. With over a decade in digital marketing, Jay builds standout brands, drives traffic with expert SEO and implements effective ad campaigns.

    When he’s not playing live music or enjoying the outdoors, you’ll find him leading strategy and outreach to connect Western New Yorkers with local fundraisers. With a background in nonprofit and startup marketing, he’s passionate about visibility for community causes.
     

    James Burns, CMO/Co-Founder

    A proud University at Buffalo student with a passion for technology and creativity, Johnny thrives on building meaningful digital experiences. Off the screen, you’ll find him running, studying chess strategy, or exploring new web design ideas. Focused on Information Technology, Johnny pairs technical skill with design thinking. Named to the Dean’s List in Fall 2024, he’s committed to excellence in academics and innovation.

    Johnny Shao, UI/UX Designer

    Rescued from a dire situation in South Korea, these two Jindo mixes have earned their keep since 2019.

    Long walks and trips to dog park highlight their day when not helping with content creation.

    They look forward to shining a light on animal rescues and other causes. These ladies want to help others going through similar scenarios and get adopted into forever homes.
